Accelerated Genetics Announces Hereford and Simmental Highlights (8/1/06)
Hereford
Accelerated Genetics offers the breed’s most powerful 1-2 punch with 014HP01007 Prospector and 014HP01009 World Class. Prospector improved significantly in the areas of Weaning Weight and Scrotal EPDs. In addition he went up in every $Value category and is now a 10 way Trait Leader. Not to be outdone World Class continues to solidify himself as the class of the Hereford breed as an 11 way Trait Leader. Few sires in the Hereford breed can match the balance of performance maternal and carcass traits that Prospector and World Class offer.
New additions in 2006 include 014HP01010 Oak and 014HP01011 Kudzu. Oak is a balanced trait young sire whose EPD’s mirror World Class. Oak offers superior carcass merit with a REA EPD in the top 15% and %IMF in the top 10%. Kudzu was the featured and high selling bull at Tennessee River Music’s Dixieland Delight Sale in Alabama. He offers an outcross pedigree to the “517” lines being sired by Phase 121 and out of an Embracer daughter. His balance of calving ease performance and maternal traits are complimented by his exceptional phenotype. A crowd favorite at the sale interest in this exciting new sire has been high.
Simmental
014SM03028 Venom and 014SM03032 Vision continue to lead the pack of outstanding Simmental sires at Accelerated Genetics. Both sires offer producers exceptional calving ease with CE EPDs in the top 5% of the breed. Vision’s data on his first progeny for calving ease saw him rise to the top of the breed for CE and low Birth Weight EPD ranking in the top 1% for both traits. Venom offers balanced performance and carcass strength to go along with his calving ease.
New to Accelerated Genetics this year are a pair of Simmental/Angus sires. 014SM03035 Frontier N13 is sired by 014AN00223 New Frontier and out of a daughter of Preferred Stock. He is the reigning Grand Champion Percentage Bull at the 2005 North American International. 014SM03038 Major League is a son of 099AN05307 338 out of the same cow family as 014SM03013 Black Joker. Major League was the high selling bull at the Pineview-Bell Farms Sale last fall in North Carolina.
