Accelerated Genetics Makes Room For More Bulls
“Accelerated Genetics growth continues at a brisk pace due to leading genetics, new technologies and the hard efforts of all employees,” states Roger Ripley, President & CEO. In response to these achievements, the Accelerated Genetics Board of Directors has been investing in the cooperative’s future. The newest investment the Board is making is the construction of two new sire-housing facilities.
On May 1, heavy equipment starting making room for more bull power at Accelerated Genetics. One of the new barns will be individual housing for more in waiting sires. It will be very similar to the existing West View Barns and will have individual housing for 54 bulls.
The second barn will be a specialty housing and collection facility that will individually house 24 bulls with many of these pens likely going to stall beef sires. Also, included in this barn will be 12 pens with sizeable outruns for bulls to exercise. This will be a separate facility located strategically on the West Farm to continue efficiencies in feeding and bull care.
Roger Hanson, Vice President of Farm and Barn Operations, adds, “These two facilities will expand bull housing capacity for Accelerated Genetics. Along with the increased capacity, we will be able to maintain EU housing status to keep bull movement as efficient as possible.”
It is anticipated that both facilities will be completed by the end of summer.
