Young Producer Committee Elections Held During Fall Conference (11/30/06)



Three positions were filled on Accelerated Genetics’ Young Producer Committee by Tim Bowers, Marion, WI; Jamie & Amy Larson, Evansville, WI; and Blair & Kathy Sawall, Clintonville, WI. This year two couples retired from the committee they were Jeff & Marie Ditzenberger and Jaramie & Lisa Rieck. The Sawalls were re–elected for their second term. Other Young Producer Committee members include: Brian Castleberg, Mondovi, WI; Mark Keller, Mt. Horeb, WI; David & Kelly Oberreich, Plymouth, WI; Joe & Donna Parrell, Cross Plains, WI; and Jeff & Tammy Styczynski, Pulaski, WI.

The Young Producer Committee organizes and coordinates the yearly activities of the Accelerated Genetics Young Producer Program. Individuals and couples throughout Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa, and northern Illinois make up the committee. This dynamic group encourages producer involvement plans annual events and provides leadership to facilitate a prosperous program.

The committee elections took place during the annual Young Producer Fall Conference held this year in Stevens Point on November 11-12, 2006. During this years conference producers attended a variety of sessions including “Moving the Financial Boulder” by James Cisler; “Manure & Nutrient Management” by Sue Porter, followed by a producer discussion; “ New Semen Technologies” by Jim Martin; and “Are You Covered Properly? – Insurance” by Adam Ross.

In addition to the educational sessions, producers had the opportunity to network with one another, listen to a humorous comedian, and participate in a costume contest. The costume costume contest winners were 1st David Oberreich – ‘Leaf Blower’, 2nd Tim Bowers – ‘Fireman’, and 3rd Mark Keller – ‘Hippee Hockey Fan’.

Upcoming Young Producer events include the Winter Get-Away – January 27-28, 2007 at the Chula Vista Theme Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI; Leadership Conference – March 24-25, 2007 at the Wintergreen Resort & Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI; and the Summer Meltdown – June 2007.
